Travelling with children
A seat must be purchased for all children. We strongly recommended children under the age of 12 years be provided with a ”Letter of Authority for carriage if unaccompanied children” when booked on LinkSA services. Letter of authority form is to be handed to company representative at time of boarding coach then to be carried by driver for reference if needed. No responsibility will be accepted by the company for unaccompanied children while in transit, however all due care will be exercised. Children must be instructed not to leave the coach en-route without approval of the driver.
Person/s meeting child/ren at destination must be advised to be waiting by scheduled arrival time at destination location and to remain until coach arrives. Further, if person/s are not there when the coach arrives, all attempts will be made to contact the nominated carer. Should contact with the nominated carer not be successful, the coach will proceed to nearest manned police station, and leave child/ren in their care, then continue on its journey.
Children travelling as part of a school / SAPSASA / common interest group, under adult supervision, are exempt from this policy.
We strongly recommend that all infants/children travelling on a LinkSA service are restrained in an appropriate “child restraint” or “booster seat” that is applicable to their age or size, as is considered an appropriate “restraint / booster” by “Road Safety Road Rules 2009”. The decision of the parent / guardian is at their sole discretion, and we accept no responsibility or liability in any way for the decision made by the parent/guardian or any loss or damage, or any cost or expense incurred by any person as a direct or indirect consequence of that decision. Where the child is of a suitable age/size, as a minimum the seat belts provided should be used. Children will not be seated in the front row, unless all the other seats are taken up by other children.
